Psychological Solutions develops Finnish versions of Persona and Ethos

In early February 2003 Psychological Solutions signed an agreement with continental based CVO Group to integrate the Ethos personality questionnaire into their web based systems.

As part of the agreement Psychological Solutions agreed to undertake the research needed to develop Finnish versions of Persona and Ethos, with a Magyar version likely to follow in Autumn 2003. The Finnish project was an exciting opportunity from a commercial and research point of view. Dr Colin Gill, Chief Psychologist at Psychological Solutions, said "We know that Finnish and Magyar are closely related, but are not part of the wider European family of Germanic, Romance and Slavic languages. This means that very little research has been conducted on the structure of personality in Finland and Hungary and that we'll be breaking new ground. We also hope to carry out some research in Saame, the language of Lapland, and may even be able to develop versions of Persona and Ethos to help Santa Claus select the right elves for his
workshops !".
The original research in Finland was scheduled to run from late April to the end of May 2003. However, the response from potential participants was so great that data for an adequate sample were collected in four days ! The complex analyses required to develop the Finnish version of Ethos were completed in mid-May 2003. An academic paper on the contrasts between the structure of personality in Finland and the English-speaking world is being prepared, but please follow the link for a short technical statement.
CVO Group is making Ethos available to Finnish job hunters so that they can get instant online feedback on their likely suitability for particular job types. Instant reports will also be available for clients in a variety of European languages.
