Competency Frameworks |
| The word 'competency' must
be one of the most used words in the organisational lexicon
but have you ever paused to think what it actually means ? Competencies
have been defined as skills, aptitudes, capacities, job functions,
and range of other things. At Psychological Solutions we use a single
definition; |
"Competencies are those personal qualities,
skills and behaviours which enable an individual to maximise their
job performance and achieve
performance-plus." |
| Competencies are the building blocks of organisational
success. A competency framework provides a clear description of what
your people actually need to do in order to succeed in their jobs.
This means that a competency framework also defines what jobs actually
exist in your organisation, what those jobs are for, and how those
jobs relate to each other. However, a good competency framework is
not simply a set of generic job descriptions or person specifications,
it's a complete explanation of what makes the best performers in your
